Take a Hike with Goats Along the Gold Miners’ Trail Near Boulder
Perfect for adventure seekers, animal lovers or anywhere in between, Airbnb offers a guided hike with goats, that also gives a glimpse into Colorado's historic past.
The 2.5 hour hike starts and ends at the Stage Stop cabin, located on Crane Ranch, about 20 miles west of Boulder. The cabin used to serve as a blacksmith station and dates back over 100 years.
From here, guests will continue to hike through history, as they are taken along the Gold Miners' Trail on the Arkansas Mountain. The walk travels through a pioneer homestead in the former Cloud City mining district, in which the old Cloud City school still sits, as well as other buildings that once made up the town. People will have the chance to explore deserted mines, portals, and tunnels within the area, while also learning about the geography and topography of the mountain.
Hikers take in the history through stories, that are derived from the letters and journals of miners dating back to the mid-1800s. The informative and engaging guide, Valerie, is a wealth of knowledge and has lots of unique tales to tell.
Besides unique stories and stunning views, the miles are memorable thanks to the friendly, four-legged companions known as Mimi, Polka, Coco, Gibbsy and Polly. The goats, along with the beautiful and historic scenery, provide plenty of fantastic photo opportunities.
The goat excursion starts at $50 per person and is suitable for ages 4 and up. The maximum group size is 6 people. Book your hike now through Airbnb.
Happy tails to you!
