The Last Broncos QB To Beat The Chiefs Is In The NFL Hall Of Fame
The last Denver Broncos Quarterback to win a game against AFC West Rival, Kansas City Chiefs has since retired and is now in the NFL Hall Of Fame. Yes, it’s been that long.
Last night's 22-9 Loss for the Denver Broncos to the Kansas City Chiefs was the 12th consecutive game that the Broncos have lost to this hated rival. We haven’t beaten the Chiefs since we won Super Bowl 50 in 2016! And the last Quarterback to do it? Former Denver Broncos legend, and now NFL Hall of Fame member, Peyton Manning.
Since Peyton Manning retired back in 2016, the Denver Broncos have had an astonishing 10 starting Quarterbacks lead our team onto the field. That’s tied with the New York Jets and the Washington Football Team for most starting Quarterbacks in that timespan. 10 Quarterbacks, and not one of them have been able to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. As a lifelong Denver Broncos fan, that stat alone is enough to make me puke. I hate the Chiefs and I can not stand Patrick Mahomes. I’m sure most of my Broncos die-hards understand and agree.
So what has to change to beat the hated Chiefs before we play them again this season on January 9th back in Denver at Empower Field at Mile High? Can we change enough for it to even matter this year? We had a game 2 seasons ago where Mahomes was knocked out early, in Denver, and we still got killed! We can’t use Arrowhead Stadium, or whatever it’s called now, being too loud as an excuse. We can’t even beat the Chiefs at home in front of 70,000 plus of Broncos faithful screaming their faces off!
Is it coaching? Is it this ownership debacle that’s no doubt a huge distraction? Is it the fact that even though Teddy Bridgewater is a solid and safe Quarterback, he’s still not enough to get us where we need to be as an offense? The Offensive line isn’t helping that poor guy out at all but there’s been a lot of mistakes that fall right on him as the leader of this team. You may or may not agree with this, but even if Denver had drafted a stud QB in the draft like Josh Allen years back, we’d have never given him enough time to develop as an elite QB. Need I remind you we’ve gone through 10 starting QBs since 2016?
I’m not sure the answer but I for one and sick and tired of losing to the Chiefs. We have to win on January 9th at home. Have to. I bleed orange & blue for life but this slump is the worst in franchise history and it’s got to change. UGH. Go Broncos.
