After the pandemic limited Colorado State's 2020 football season to just four games, there's new and full slate of Rams football to get excited about.

CSU released its 2021 football schedule in a press release on Friday (March 5). The Rams have been in the midst of spring practices.

Here's a look at the schedule, which includes nonconference game against the SEC's Vanderbilt and the Big Ten's Iowa. All 2021 games can be heard on Townsquare Media's Power 102.9, Home of the Rams.

  • Sept. 4 – South Dakota State
  • Sept. 11 – Vanderbilt
  • Sept. 18 – at Toledo
  • Sept. 25 – at Iowa
  • Oct. 2 – OPEN
  • Oct. 9 – San Jose State*
  • Oct. 16 – at New Mexico*
  • Oct. 23 – at Utah State*
  • Oct. 30 – Boise State*
  • Nov. 6 – at Wyoming*
  • Nov. 13 – Air Force*
  • Nov. 20 – at Hawai’i*
  • Nov. 27 – Nevada*

One omission from the schedule you might notice is there's no Rocky Mountain Showdown scheduled. The annual game against Colorado has been played 91 times over the years, including every year between 1995 and 2019.

The Rams and Buffaloes had been scheduled to face each other in 2020 in Fort Collins before the game was canceled due to the pandemic. It will certainly be different without the Rocky Mountain Showdown, which was last won by CSU in 2014.

Last year the Rams went 1-3 and had a number of games canceled during the first season under new head coach Steve Addazio.

Addazio, who's first win came against rival Wyoming in the Border War Bronze Boot game, will not get a more normal offseason and more familiarity with players.

CSU will have a new offensive coordinator for 2021 in Jon Budmayr, who was hired away from the Wisconsin Quarterbacks Coach position.
