Disaster Assistance Center Opens Monday, Jan. 3 in Lafayette for Marshall Fire Relief

To provide additional relief for those affected by the Marshall Fire that sparked on Thursday, Dec. 3, Boulder County and a network of its community partners have worked together to open a Disaster Assistance Center today (Jan. 3).

An array of resources will be made available to those affected by the fire, including anything from food assistance to filing loss and recovery claims.

The Disaster Assistance Center is located at 1755 South Public Road in Lafayette, Colo. According to the release from Boulder County, the center will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to the resources made available by Boulder County at the Disaster Assistance Center, residents will also be connected with FEMA funding assistance if needed, as made possible by President Joe Biden issuing a federal disaster declaration following the fire.

As of Sunday, Jan. 2, authorities have reported that the Marshall Fire is 74% contained and sitting at a total of 6,219 acres. According to Boulder County, over 1,000 structures were either destroyed or damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and emergency personnel has dispatched 182 total personnel to tackle containing the fire and investigating the incident.
