Ex-Senator Andreas Englund Signed to One Year Contract With the Eagles
The Colorado Eagles announced the addition of Andreas Englund on July 28, making Englund their seventh defenseman going into the 2021-22 season.
Englund, originally from Sweden, played a stint with the Ottawa Senators from 2016-2020 after being drafted by Ottawa in 2014 as the 40th overall pick. In the 2019-20 campaign, Englund appeared in 24 games with the Senators, notching three assists and three points on the season.
Prior to his NHL career, Englund played professionally in the Swedish Hockey League where he collected four goals and seven assists. He also played at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship with Sweden's U20 and represented as their captain.
Englund will add depth to the Eagles' defensive roster and fits into the meat of the age group of the team of young talent.
The Eagles will play their first home game of the regular season on Friday, October 22 against the San Jose Barracude. Budweiser Events Center is going to be open to 100% capacity and season tickets are on sale now.
