Fort Collins, Loveland Schools Moving In-Person Full-Time
Students of all grade levels will be back full-time at Fort Collins and Loveland schools on March 22.
Both the Poudre and Thompson school districts announced that the normal, in-person schedules for middle school and high school students are coming back after declining COVID numbers. Students in preschool through fifth grade already returned to full in-person learning earlier this school year.
Students who signed up for virtual education all year in both districts will remain in that program for the remainder of the school year.
The Larimer County school districts both made decisions in consultation with the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment.
“Our goal has been to get students back to in-person learning as soon as it is safe to do so," said Larimer County Public Health Director Tom Gonzales in a PSD announcement.
"We’ve worked closely with our school districts throughout this pandemic and have confidence that their COVID-19 protocols prioritize the health and safety of the students and staff."
Teachers in both school districts have been getting the COVID vaccine, which also factored into the decision.
PSD shared that cases have dropped at all school levels from the fall.
"As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to monitor health conditions and public health guidance and make adjustments as needed," said Interim PSD Superintendent Todd Lambert in the release.
"PSD remains committed to helping our students learn and grow, and we know they are at their best when they are in school each day. We are eager for their return and increased opportunities to connect with peers and participate in school-related activities."
