Greeley Police Debunk False Claim About Weekend Homicide at UNC
The Greeley Police Department (GPD) is debunking false claims that a homicide occurred at the University of Northern Colorado over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post from the GPD, rumors about a fatal shooting near the UNC campus began spreading throughout local Facebook groups. The agency has since clarified that these are "completely false" claims.

"There was no shooting or homicide on, or near, UNC's campus this weekend," read the post.
However, an incident did occur near the university on Saturday (April 2), which police believe social media users misconstrued as a deadly shooting.
GPD reports that the actual incident happened around 2:30 a.m. at a residence in the 1700 block of 11th Avenue when law enforcement received a call about "a disturbance with weapons."
Upon arrival, officers determined that a text message argument between juvenile suspects and victims prompted the suspects to damage property in the victims' home.
While initial calls reported the use of a firearm and the sound of gunshots, police said that, at this point in the investigation, they "have not established any proof that firearms were fired during the incident." The incident did not result in any injuries or deaths.
