Greeley finally has a new acting city manager.

On Tuesday Aug. 3, Greeley City Council appointed Raymond C. Lee III as acting city manager. Greeley is currently holding a national search for a successor to city manager Roy Otto, who resigned last month after 16 years of service. Lee will serve in the role until a permanent replacement is found.

With over 13 years of experience in municipal government, Lee currently heads the city's community development, economic health and housing, public works, water and sewer, and culture, parks and recreation departments.

Lee will transition into the acting city manager position on Aug. 18, Otto's last day with Greeley.

Mayor John Gates spoke highly about Lee, saying:

Raymond has show tremendous leadership ability. The council consensus to appoint a seasoned professional ensures continuity of city operations and administrative leadership [...]

Before Lee joined the City of Greeley, he was the public works director in Amarillo, Texas. Prior to that, he worked as the assistant director of street services with the City of Dallas.

Lee holds experience serving in other city departments like librry services and risk management.

Lee says he gets "motivated and excited each day to support and sustain the dedicated citizens, leaders and stakeholders of [the] community". With credentials from Henderson State University, the University of Kansas, and a position with Harvard University through their Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, Lee seems like a clear and rational choice.

And from the sounds of it, Lee is ready to serve the City of Greeley in any capacity, and ensure that it is a great place to be.
