UPDATE: Authorities were able to peacefully resolve the hostage situation that began Tuesday (April 6) at a Motel 6 in Thornton.

In a Wednesday (April 7) tweet, the Thornton Police Department thanked the Northglenn Police Department, Broomfield Police Department, Westminster Police Department, Adams County Fire Department, Thornton Fire Department, and Federal Heights Fire Department "for their assistance in helping us resolve this barricade/hostage situation and seeing it come to a safe conclusion."

Another tweet noted that, as of Wednesday morning, police were in contact with the hostage and an adult male suspect, who was barricaded at the scene, is in custody.

Based on the timeline of the tweets, it took several hours before authorities were able to negotiate a peaceful surrender.

According to a Tuesday (April 6) tweet from the Thornton Police Department, the Thornton and Northglenn SWAT teams are "currently attempting a peaceful surrender" at 6 W. 83rd Pl., where they believe someone is being held hostage.

The suspect is barricaded. Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
