If you're like me, your fall is stacked with shows to make up for those you missed out on in 2020, and the first half of this year. I have my tickets to see Rancid in Denver in October, but they're not playing the Mission Ballroom, or at least not inside of it. If your concert tickets read 'Mission Outdoors,' here's what that means.

AEG Presents: Rocky Mountains is launching 'Mission Outdoors' to bring shows out into the open air. That's something I think we can all appreciate while we continue to try to live normal lives as the pandemic lingers on. OK, something we can all appreciate as long as the weather is on our side.

Kellie Donahoe, director of marketing for AEG told Westword that 'Mission Outdoors is a unique opportunity to connect with indoors.' Donahoe said that the model will present the opportunity for more outdoor music festivals in the Mile High.

'There's a fun festival outdoor show, and there’s a sweet after-party twenty feet away,' Donahoe said.

Mission Outdoors will debut on Saturday, September 18 with the Westword Music Showcase, featuring alternative rock act, Young the Giant. The only other show listed for the outdoor space so far is the Rancid and Dropkick Murphys co-headlining Boston to Berkley II Tour on Friday, October 1. You can read more about Mission Outdoors from Westword here.

Right now, a handful of indoor venues are requiring proof of vaccination to attend live shows. This includes Boulder's Fox Theatre and Boulder Theater, as well as the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins. Surfside 7 in Fort Collins doesn't require proof of vaccination to get into the bar, however it will be requiring proof to get in the door on show nights.
