Each week, Townsquare Media, sponsored by FNBO, will be highlighting a Northern Colorado high school athlete as part of Townsquare Media’s High School MVP program. Each of these athletes has had an outstanding presence on the court or field and has been submitted or selected as our MVP of the week.

The 2021-22 school year is in full swing, and so are fall sports. The Northridge Grizzlies varsity volleyball team is making waves in their first five games of the season with a current 4-1 overall record. On Saturday against the Estes Park Bobcats, the Grizzlies swept the match with Katy Jo Werner putting up a strong performance on the court.

Werner, a junior outside hitter, had a fair game at the net with three kills and two block assists in the match. Her presence, however, was clear in her defensive game. Werner notched nine digs and recorded six serve receives with no errors.

As a tri-sport athlete, Werner's athleticism shines in volleyball, basketball, and soccer at Northridge. She is this week's Townsquare Media High School MVP.

Werner answered a couple of questions reflecting on the start of the season so far.
