We did say we might be getting snow soon, didn't we? If you were planning on getting a last-minute trip through Rocky Mountain National Park right at the end of summer, you're a little too late.

Rocky Mountain National Park announced Friday morning that Trail Ridge Road is closed due to whiteout and icy conditions from snow overnight on Thursday, Aug. 19.

The closure begins at Rainbow Curve on the east side and Milner Pass on the west side. Rocky Mountain National Park has not given a set date on when the road is set to reopen. They will reopen when conditions permit.

Rocky Mountain National Park has also had a striping project going on in the park since Aug. 18 and is expected to be completed by Sept. 4. That project has created several road delays for visitors in the park as well.
