Olympic Champion, CSU Alum Amy Van Dyken Returns to Fort Collins
Amy Van Dyken is back in her old stomping grounds.
While in Fort Collins, the Olympic champion and Colorado State University alum stopped by her alma mater for a photoshoot outside of the Forestry Building, which sits on Amy Van Dyken Way — an honor she received in 2014.
According to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, Van Dyken transferred to CSU from the University of Arizona following a record-breaking swimming career at Cherry Creek High School.

With the help of CSU swimming coach John Mattos, Van Dyken escalated her athletic capabilities and later competed in two Olympic games, leaving with a total of six gold medals.
Colorado Encyclopedia reports that Van Dyken's life changed again in 2014 when injuries from an ATV accident "left her paralyzed from the waist down." However, she didn't let the incident stop her. Since recovering, she's become involved with various charities and adaptive CrossFit.

She's also a radio broadcasting pro and a motivational speaker — the latter of which often brings her back to Fort Collins. According to the Coloradoan, Van Dyken's last visit to CSU was in March, when she spoke at a Women and Philanthropy event for International Women's Day.
Van Dyken currently spends her days in Scottsdale, Arizona and in the Centennial State. Here's hoping she stops by the Choice City again soon.
