Southwest Cutting Back on COVID Cleaning Between Flights
Southwest has decided that their 'overnight' cleanings will be enough in the fight against COVID-19.
Southwest Airlines, which has a hub at Denver International Airport, and the airline that this author prefers, issued a memo about updating their cleaning procedures while on the tarmac.
The airline said it will continue to clean a 'few items' in between each flight.
According to CNN, which obtained the memo, the airline is seeing more flights and needs to speed-up the time that the planes are not in the air; they've decided that that time will come from the time it takes to clean for COVID-19.
They will still clean a few things in between flights, such as seat-back trays and the restrooms, but items such as seat-belts won't be. All planes will get a 6-7 hour deep cleaning every day during its overnight stop down.
According to CNN Southwest will also continue to limit the capacity for planes through October 2020.
