An arrest warrant for first-degree assault and attempted murder was issued for a Greeley man after multiple individuals reported he stabbed a man late last month.

34-year-old Matthew Jaramillo is facing charges for first-degree assault and attempted second-degree murder after a late night hangout ended in a stabbing and severe injuries in Evans back in July.

According to the Greeley Tribune, Evans police responded to a stabbing in a garage in the 4000 block of Mariposa Lane at 1:51 a.m. on July 24; once arriving on scene, officers located the victim of a stabbing on the floor of the garage while two witnesses were aiding the injured man.

Officers helped assist the victim - who sustained severe injuries due to the stabbing - until Evans fire personnel arrived on scene. The victim suffered a deep laceration which extended from behind his left ear to the base of his skull, as per reports via the Greeley Tribune. The victim also had a laceration to the left pectoral muscle and several puncture wounds along his left side.

At one point, Evans police reported that the victim stopped breathing and his pulse could not be detected. Once paramedics arrived on scene of the incident, the victim was transported to North Colorado Medical Center.

According to police, 34-year-old Matthew Jaramillo had been hanging out with some other people in the garage when an argument suddenly broke out, to which the victim intervened.

Jaramillo and the victim reportedly went outside to talk, records indicate, when the victim returned to the garage holding his neck and saying he had been stabbed. Police reported that Jaramillo then left the scene in a Dodge.

Officials with the Greeley Police Department arrested Matthew Jaramillo on June 28 on suspicion of a stabbing. He was last booked into the Weld County Jail on July 6, on suspicion of first-degree assault.

As per the Greeley Tribune, Jaramillo has an advisement hearing scheduled in regards to this charge, which is set for Aug. 18 at 9 a.m.

Although the suspect faces several active warrants, he has not been taken into custody for the July 24 stabbing. Jaramillo's bond was reportedly set to $100,000.
